Seminole Tribal Member & Chairman
Biography
Aaron Cypress is a Seminole Tribal Member, and Chairman of Phenom Promotions LLC, an entrepreneur, entertainment executive, and business strategist whose vision is centered on creating opportunities that bridge tribal enterprise, sports, entertainment, hospitality, and community development.
At an early age, Cypress was inherently drawn to the sports entertainment industry and encouraged by his mother, Cathy Cypress, a longstanding strong maternal figure of the Seminole Tribe of Florida who, among other responsibilities, for years, has managed the tribal sports activities. At age 15, he began developing his skills as a combat sports athlete, training in various fighting styles. First focusing on boxing under the dedicated coaching direction of Ben Collins, while attending American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida, and then wrestling.
As a fan of multiple combat sports, at age 16, Cypress expanded his training, developing his skills as a Mixed Marshall Arts fighter. At age 18, he began training and competing in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
At age 19, he began sharing his knowledge and skills with young tribal youth and young adults, helping to teach Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the Big Cypress Martial Arts Program (BCMA) at the Dome in Big Cypress.
Cypress attended Mjolnir MMA, an intensive training gym in Reykjavik, Iceland, followed by a three-month specialized training camp at Straight Blast Gym in Ireland, under the direction of Coach John Kavanagh, who is widely recognized as Ireland's premier MMA coach, best known for guiding Conor McGregor to unprecedented UFC championships. Kavanagh is also Ireland's first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt.
Having attained great strength and achieved skills in combat sports training through multiple arts, as a formidable MMA Fighter, at age 24 Cypress moved back home and achieved an impressive record, with Ben Collins as his trainer, as an Undefeated Professional Boxer, commanding three (3) TKO/KO knockout wins, and one (1) draw, and was heralded as the first Seminole tribal heritage professional fighter to ever compete in a televised broadcast PPV fight.
As a committed husband to his loving wife, Joelli, of four years, and a dedicated father to their 3-year-old son, Koa, Cypress now directs his knowledge of the sports and entertainment industry, and the maternally guided insight of his Seminole Tribal heritage, to build business opportunities and develop programs to strengthen the current and future of his people through his leadership of Phenom Promotions, LLC.
